Research Interest

1. Organometallic chemistry
2. Replacing of precious metal complexes with non-precious metal complexes
3. Synthesis of new metal complexes for activation of small molecules (carbon dioxide, hydrogen, water, etc.)
4. Developing non-symmetrical cobalt, nickel, and iron pincer complexes and investigating their catalytic activities in reduction of challenging unsaturated bonds

Dr. Öztopcu was born in Turkey and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Istanbul. Between 2000 and 2003 he worked as a Production Engineer for Flokser Tekstil San. Ve Tic. A.S.(Turkey). After that he moved to Europe and did his Master and PhD in Chemistry (organometallic chemistry field) under the supervision of Prof. Karl Kirchner at Vienna University of Technology (Austria). After working as Shift Supervisor at PHOENIX Arzneiwarengroßhandlung GmbH (Austria) he moved to Nur-Sultan in June  2019. He joined the group of Prof. Andrey Khalimon as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in August 2019. Since January 2020 he has been working as an Instructor at the Chemistry department.
