Zhanar Abdigapbarova received her PhD in Kazakh Literature from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in 2010. Prior to coming to Nazarbayev University in 2012, Zhanar worked as an assistant professor in Kazakh Literature Department, International Kazakh-Turkish University named after K.A.Yassawi within 2004 – 2012. She has more than 40 scientific articles in Kazakh language and literature in major journals and newspapers. Her monograph «Problems of Kazakh literature at the early twentieth century and Shady’s poetry» (Turkestan: Turan Press, 2011) is now available in paperback.
Zhanar Abdigapbarova is a professional singer of Kazakh national songs.
Achievements:
- Winner of republican and regional competitions.
- First place in ‘Қанекей, сөйле, қызыл тіл’ competition organized by Board of Language Development of South Kazakhstan Region.
- Grand Prix in “Қалқатайдың дауысы-ай” competition amongst institutes of higher education.
