Our 4th year economics student Ardak Poshayeva has won the Spelling Bee Contest, organised by the US Embassy in Astana.

According to Kazinform, the purpose of the competition, the first ever in Kazakhstan, was to support nation’s trilingual policy and to popularize the English language among the youth.

The contest itself is familiar to schoolchildren in America, where they compete by spelling words in English, which can be pronounced one way but are spelled differently.

Following this win, Ardak will compete in the final stage of the contest, which will take place on the 10th March in Almaty.
