Nonlinear structures have the ability to “remember” the past values of the surrounding fields and thus they are indispensable components of photonic memory elements. In this work, nonlinear nanotubes are found to possess memory properties and, for the first time, the information is proposed to be stored in the rotation angle of their radiation pattern. That was a research project performed by Aivar Abrashuly as a member of Nazarbayev University (NU) Metamaterials Modeling and Design Group, under the supervision of Prof. Constantinos Valagiannopoulos. Abrashuly has graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Physics from NU in May 2021 and is now with the Department of Electrical Engineering of Stanford University, CA, USA, where he was admitted for PhD studies with full scholarship.
