Spring 2023 NU-Middlebury Intensive program of Russian as a Foreign Language and Eurasian Studies has been launched at the NU SSH.
Middlebury College is the US leading and one of world’s top language institutes dedicated to offering highest quality language training in a number of world’s languages, including Chinese, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, etc.
Spring 2023 is a pilot semester aimed to develop the proof of concept, test academic and logistical processes for the consequent wider implementation of the program. A small group of 4 students from various leading US academic institutions study advanced level RFL + Regional Studies curriculum which represent regular SSH courses but adapted to delivery in Russian for international students by the SSH faculty.
This program addresses a number of development issues for NU including, potential for internationalization, developing academic partnerships based on the established model and infrastructure.
The program consists of Russian language course and the courses on History and Culture of Eurasia.
Apart from classes the students visit extracurricular cultural events (speaking club, theatres and movies, lectures on Eurasian studies, tourist trips in the region).
