The accelerator was designed and fabricated in collaboration with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU).  The project is led guided by associated professor of Physics Alexander Tikhonov and postdoc Dr. Marat Kaikanov.

Professor Tikhonov: Accelerator provides a 10 000 Amperes ion current in 80 nanoseconds, with ion energy of 400 keV.  Although this technology is of very high current and voltage, it is used for nano-science – to create unique nanomaterials with advanced structure and properties.  Some of our recent projects are to create modern electronic devices, in the environment of clean-room Nano-Fab laboratory. We explore novel nanometer scale ferroelectric materials, monolayer thin 2D materials, carbon nanotubes to build transistors for future electronics. This research was recently published in leading journals “Nanomaterials” and “2D materials”.

In the photos we show the INURA ion-accelerator, and our group work at nanofabrication Molecular Foundry facility at Berkeley Lab, USA.
