Podcast “Around the bush”: “Soviet-style nostalgia: the bourgeoisie, Stalinism and Ryazanov’s comedies” with the participation of professor Mikhail Akulov
Supporting the initiative of home-based education, the Tselinniy Center for Contemporary Culture has initiated a series of podcasts called “Around the bush”. In the first episode of the podcast, historian, assistant professor of the school of sciences and humanities Mikhail Akulov and journalist Arslan Akanov talk about what the Soviet bourgeoisie is and how it is depicted in Mikhail Kozakov’s film “The Intercession Gate”. The hosts are trying to understand why Soviet people were nostalgic for Stalinism, and post-Soviet people miss everything Soviet; what do Ryazanov’s comedies and Trifonov’s stories have in common and what gestalt should be closed so as not to yearn for the departed.
